% electric passenger ferry.
A maritime design and applied technologies company, Artemis Technologies, has presented the design of its new % electric EF- passenger ship , aimed at the global high-speed ferry market. This revolutionary ferry is designed to provide commercially viable green transportation solutions for operators, cities and governments around the world.
The EF- passenger ferry offers a range of nautical miles ( km) at a cruising speed of knots ( km/h). It has a maximum speed of knots ( km/h). The zero-emission vessel produces incredible fuel savings of up to % compared to conventional high-speed diesel ferries.
The -meter vessel will be powered by the patented Artemis eFoiler electric propulsion system. She is claimed to fly over water, providing a comfortable ride for up to passengers on board, mitigating the effects of motion sickness and producing minimal wake at high speed, significantly reducing the impact on coastlines.
The ships will be fully accessible and incredibly spacious, with a range of onboard facilities including bike racks, cabin suitcases and overhead storage, baby hygiene facilities and charging points. It will also feature a unique high-speed collision avoidance system that will ensure safe operations in port and near shore by safely diverting the ferry on an altered path a Brazil Mobile Number List way from marine life, wildlife, debris and other objects in the water that might otherwise be hidden from view.
“We have combined our experience from the worlds of high-performance boating, motorsports, aerospace and advanced manufacturing to design and develop an electric propulsion system that is simply a game-changer for the maritime industry,” he said. Dr Iain Percy OBE, Founder and CEO of Artemis Technologies. “Our high-speed passenger ferry provides a cost-effective public transport solution that helps tackle air pollution, congestion and noise.
“By encouraging multimodal transport in urban areas, we will enable cities around the world to use and benefit from the untapped potential of their waterways. With hydrofoils lifting boats out of the water, we are dramatically reducing drag. “This is combined with a submerged electric powertrain that is exceptionally efficient, as demonstrated through rigorous testing with our -meter eFoiler workboat, validating our digital simulations and performance prediction.”
Artemis Technologies has partnered with Condor Ferries to operate a pilot scheme using the first EF- passenger ferry. This will enter service in , between Belfast and Bangor in Northern Ireland.
Earlier this year, in its continuing mission towards the decarbonisation of shipping, Artemis Technologies launched the world's largest % electric foiling vessel, 'Pioneer of Belfast'. It also introduced a range of electric work boats, including a -metre multi-purpose work boat and a -metre crew transfer boat, where a -metre crew transfer boat is also in development.
